Ara Petrosian was a high school prospect at Fountain Valley HS, drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1993. Additionally a  Cypress College prospect drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1996.  In 1997 while playing for Long Beach State,  Ara had 15  saves leading the nation and was voted onto the Division 1 All-American Team by Collegiate Baseball (along with Lance Berkman, Adam Kennedy, JD Drew, Pat Burrell, and Tim Hudson). Ara was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 18th round of the 1997 major league draft and went on to pitch for two years for Colorado and Oakland in the minor leagues.
